Alkannin, found in Alkanna tinctoria, is used as a food coloring. Alkannin shows anticancer activity, arrests cell cycle, and induces apoptosis. Alkannin improves hepatic inflammation in a Rho-kinase pathway[1][2][3].Alkannin inhibits HCT-116 and SW-480 cells growth with IC50s of 2.38 and 4.53 μM, respectively[1].[1]. Hosokawa Y, et al.
